Is macro-evolution really observable?

We often hear: "We have seen species evolve, therefore macro-evolution is proven."

Yet this is a logical leap.

Observing micro-evolutions does not prove that these small changes accumulate to create new structures, organs, or body plans.

Let us take a concrete case. Lizards relocated to another island developed caecal valves, digestive folds associated with a more plant-based diet.

Yes, we observe adaptations.

And within the framework of neo-Darwinism, this is the most coherent extrapolation.

But, we have never observed the gradual emergence of a new body plan.

And saying "it takes millions of years" is not an observation, it is a supposition consistent with the neo-Darwinian model.

And saying "you are just creationists" is an evasion that ignores the fundamental question. Regardless of whether the critique is raised by a creationist, a skeptical biologist, or a philosopher of science, the question remains the same: is the extrapolation a proof or a coherent supposition?
